FOWLER – Bruce L McClaren, 95, died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2025. 

He was born Nov. 6, 1930 to James and Frances (Vanderee) McClaren. 

He married Norma Blanchett June 19, 1955. She survives.

After graduating from Lewis High School, he served four years in the United States Air Force. Upon his discharge he returned to Lewis, later moving to Ulysses before moving to Fowler, where he created and established his farming career.

He enjoyed traveling with family and friends, fishing in Colorado, golfing and watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in many activities.

Survivors also include three children: Diane and husband, Howard, Odessa, Mo., Janice and husband, Jim, Longview, Texas, and Doug and wife, Michelle, Fowler; sister, Judy Wheaton, Lewis; seven grandchildren: Ryan (Julie) Leek, Milford, N.H., Tonya (Brian) Lore, Overland Park, Bryce (Katie) McClaren, Fowler, Jason (Morgan) McClaren, Fowler, Matt (Kimmi) McClaren, Fowler, Laurel Hawes, Longview, Texas, and Michael Hawes, Madisonville, La.; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Leland McClaren; three brothers: Jay, Willis and David; and three sisters: Eileen, Thelma and Carolyn.

• Graveside services took place Monday, Nov. 17, 2025 at the Fowler Cemetery in Fowler. 

Memorials are suggested to the Fowler Cemetery Flag Project in care of Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary in Meade.
