Doyle Ray Davis, 68, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026 at his home in Liberal.

He was born Aug. 31, 1957 to Glenda Hunter and Colton Davis at Brownwood Memorial Hospital in Brownwood, Texas.

He married Helen Giles May 4, 2016. She survives.

He was a graduate of Brownwood High School.

He went on to enlist into the U.S. Army, where he served for eight years reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant. While serving in the Army, he distinguished himself as a navigator of the Army's Hovercraft Water Vessels. As a civilian, he later taught Senior Navy personnel in the operation of Hovercraft Vessels.

He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and SCUBA diving. He enjoyed watching western movies and reading books.

Survivors also include his mother; stepdaughter, Ann Martire, Kismet; sister, Suzy Persechino, Killeen, Texas; five step-grandchildren: Scott Bond, Hutchinson, Elden Bond, Kansas City, Mo., Nick Bond, Liberal, Izzy Martire, and Ryan Martire, Kismet.

He was preceded in death by his father.

• Per Doyle's request, cremation has taken place.

Celebration of Life services will be announced at a later date
