Lillian Ruth Fawcett, 97, died Monday, June 10, 2024 in Sedgwick County.
She was born March 27, 1927 to Elijah and Opal (Childers) Pennington.
She married Wendell Carl Wettstein Sept. 22, 1947. He preceded her in death May 5, 1977.
She married Edward Madison Fawcett Nov. 25, 1983. He preceded her in death Aug. 7, 2017.
She graduated from Liberal High School in 1945.
She worked as a cafeteria dietitian, starting at Kismet Elementary and High School and later at Southwestern Heights High School.
Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her professional roles as she took care of the family farm, managed the dairy, and operated tractors, trucks, and combines.
She found joy in her many hobbies and interests, such as being a member of Kismet Global Methodist Church and Friends Church in Liberal. She was also a 4H leader, where she shared her skills and knowledge of sewing and cooking.
Survivors include daughters, Cindy Colmer and husband, David, Rockport, Texas, and Pamela Lara and husband, Larry, Andover; son, C.J. Wettstein and wife, Linda, Kismet; three sisters: Esther Spaulding, Amarillo, Texas, Nina Bailey, Kansas City, Mo., and Mary Few, Scottsdale, Ariz.; eight grandchildren: Jennifer Cross and husband, John, Erika White and husband, Bryan, Monica Robertson and husband, Josh, Lyndell Lara and wife, McKenzi, Mylissa Dugan and husband, Chris, Carl Wettstein and wife, Jill, and Carey and Casey Wettstein; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, and three sisters.
o Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 17, 2025 at the Kismet Global Methodist Church at 806 Main Street in Kismet, with Reverend Steve Morgan presiding.
Burial will follow at Restlawn Cemetery.
