PLAINS – Zita Jean Bond, 73, died Sunday, July 21, 2024 at her home in Girard.
She was born Aug. 1, 1950 to Merle LeRoy and Mary Jo (Hayse) Tournade.
She married Carl Ray Bond Oct. 6, 1973. He survives.
She graduated from Southwestern Heights High School with the Class of 1968.
She helped run the family business “Jo’s Drive In”.
She farmed in Plains with her husband until they moved to Enid, Okla., where she graduated from that community’s vocational school. She worked as a bookkeeper in several Elevators in Enid. Later moving to Girard, she worked at Producers Co-op until retiring.
She was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, the American Legion, and the Methodist Church.
Survivors also include her children: Vance Edward and Barbie Wright, Bonner Springs, Marvin Ray and Angie Bond, Enid, Okla., Kimberly Ann Worner, Amarillo, Texas, Karla Rae and Troy Thomas, Hutchinson, and Keia Renee and Joe Mende, Amarillo, Texas; brother, Rusty and wife, Marla Tournade, Eudora; sister, Judy Powell, Meade; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Larry Tournade and Ralph Tournade .
• Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 26, 2024 at the Plains Methodist Church in Plains.
Burial will follow at the Plains Cemetery in Plains.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2024 at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary in Meade.
