PLAINS – Donald D. (Don) Wilson, 90, died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2024 at the Lone Tree Retirement Center in Meade.
He was born March 31, 1934 to Wilbur and Mary (Classen) Wilson.
He married Ruth Henry Jan. 16, 1957. She preceded him in death Dec. 1, 2023.
He graduated from Plains High School in 1952.
He worked as a station operator for Jayhawk Pipeline for more than 30 years.
He was a member of the Meade County Historical Society, Santa Fe Trail Association, and American Quarter Horse Association, and served on the Lone Tree Retirement Center Board.
He enjoyed his horses, traveling, reading history books, his pets, spending time outdoors, and time with his family and friends.
Survivors include sons, Phillip Wilson and wife, Deb, and Stephen Wilson; three grandchildren: Megan Wilson, Caleb Wilson, and Katie Muraliraj and husband, Karthik; and great-grandchildren, Revan and Maya Muraliraj.
He was also preceded in death by his parents.
• Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9, 2024 at the Friends Church of Plains, with burial to follow at the Plains Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, 2024 at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary in Meade.
