Southwest Medical Center is proud to announce that it has earned a three-year term of accreditation in computed tomography (CT) from the American College of Radiology® (ACR®).

This prestigious accreditation is a testament to SWMC’s commitment to providing the highest standards of image quality and patient safety.

CT scanning, also known as CAT scanning, is a non-invasive medical test that plays a crucial role in helping physicians diagnose and tailor treatments for a wide range of medical conditions.

The ACR gold seal of accreditation signifies that SWMC meets the rigorous standards set by the ACR’s Practice Parameters and Technical Standards.

The accreditation process includes a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field, assessing image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs.

“The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety,” said Kelly Denton, Diagnostic Imaging Director at SWMC. “It is awarded only to facilities meeting specific requirements after a thorough peer-review evaluation. The findings are reported back to the facility, providing us with a comprehensive report that we use for continuous practice improvement.”

SWMC first achieved ACR CT accreditation in June of 2009 and has successfully maintained this high standard through each renewal process
