Christmas is a time when gifts are exchanged between family and friends, and as it is most any time of year, the Seward County Sheriff’s office is in the giving spirit too this holiday season.
Through the end of 2024, the department is hosting a baby supply drive for Grace Place Pregnancy Care Center, and coordinator Jamie McIntyre said a variety of items will be taken from diapers to pacifiers, clothes, blankets and even formula.
McIntyre said the drive is part of the sheriff’s office mission of giving back to the community.
“We enjoy helping the community and being a part of the community, so we wanted to do something that would help people in need or somebody who needed a little extra help with the season,” she said. “We decided Grace Place would be a good place to bless this season.”
Items can be brought to the sheriff’s office at 501 N. Washington in Liberal from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. McIntyre said items can be taken after those hours as well.
“If they need to make arrangements after 5, they can call 620-309-2022, and I will make arrangements to get with them to get their donations,” she said.
McIntyre said the baby supply drive will run through the end of December, but donations can be given any time of year.
“If anyone wants to wait to make the donations, if it’s easier to wait until we get past the busyness, that’s fine too,” she said.
For more information, call the Seward County Sheriff’s office at 620-309-2022. McIntyre is very excited for the drive.
“I love to help people and bless people,” she said. “It is a true blessing to have the ability to do it through my work, with my coworkers. It’s a great blessing.”
McIntyre said deputies are also happy to do car seat safety checks throughout the year.
“Our deputies are also willing to check the car seats to make sure they’re in proper and buckled down and secured,” she said.
