An arrest was made, and 37 pounds of suspected fentanyl pills were seized last month in a traffic stop in Meade County.

The Meade County Sheriff’s office recently reported in a press release on the morning of Jan. 17, a deputy conducted a traffic stop of a 2009 Toyota Corolla.

The release said the stop led to a consensual search of the vehicle where the fentanyl was seized and the driver, Julio Reyes Beltran, was arrested.

The release said Beltran was arrested for distribution of a controlled substance, no drug tax stamp, use of a communication facility to commit a felony and display of license plate.

It is estimated the fentanyl seized contained about 167,000 pills with a street value of roughly $850,000. The sheriff’s office reminds everyone all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
