The USD 480 school board will be asked to approve multiple items at its next meeting Monday evening. Monday’s meeting will be in Room C107 of the Liberal High School East Campus.

Up first for discussion will be the HVAC Connected Controls service agreement renewal.

“JCI has provided a renewal proposal for Connected Controls Services.  The services provided routinely analyze and evaluate the data that we are currently collecting from our HVAC systems,” the agenda information noted. “The services help to prevent future failures, ensure systems are operating as designed and scheduled as well as improve efficiency of our systems. Weekly system scans are used and reviewed by software engineers and system experts.  At least once a quarter, JCI meets with USD 480 staff to review system performance, measures taken to improve operations, identify potential issues and make system improvements. Staff is recommending the board accept the proposal from Johnson Controls Inc. in the amount of $14,301.”

Up next for the board will be approvals for two new positions – an LHS scheduler and an LHS activities secretary.

“The LHS scheduler will collaborate with school leadership, department chairs, and counselors to develop the master schedule, ensuring appropriate course offerings, teacher assignments, and room allocations. This person will also adjust the master schedule as needed throughout the year to accommodate staffing changes, course demand, and other unforeseen factors, ensure the student schedules are structured to maximize instructional time, academic support, and enrichment opportunities while balancing teacher availability and facility resources. This person will also continuously evaluate and refine scheduling processes and structures to improve student access to courses, academic interventions, and personalized learning opportunities based on student needs and school priorities,” the agenda information noted. “The activities secretary will provide administrative support for all school activities, clubs, and events. Oversees social media, digital signage, student recognition, financial processing, and logistics for school-wide activities. This person will assist in the planning and execution of school-wide events, assemblies, dances, and club activities, work with custodial and maintenance staff to prepare facilities for major events, arrange for necessary security, ticketing, and permits for large-scale student events, and collaborate with student leaders and club sponsors to support student-run events.”

Also looking for approval will be renewal of the history curricular resource for middle schools.

“The 7th grade history resource has expired. Teachers and students need access to the curricular resources. The quote is for three years in the amount of $16,443.60,” the agenda information noted. “Staff is recommending the board approve the renewal of subscription for history curricular resources that have expired in the amount of $16,443.60.”

Also up for approval will be Marzano Resources professional development.

“The professional development with Marzano Resources will include specific steps to develop curriculum, train staff, deploy new reporting systems, and to communicate with stakeholders,” the agenda information noted. “In the comprehensive training, participants will explore a research-backed plan to transition to a standards-based system with practical hands-on strategies to shift into standards-based learning. Staff is recommending the board approve the contract with Marzano Resources for professional development district-wide in the amount of $125,885.40.”
