Starting this week, Seward County will receive an upgrade as part of the county’s ongoing road maintenance efforts.

Work is scheduled to begin Wednesday, according to a press release from the county and is expected to be completed by July 31, weather permitting.

Performing the work will be J&R Constructors Group. The project includes five different locations and will be completed in this order:

• Road J: 1-inch mill and 2-inch hot mix asphalt (HMA) overlay, starting at the intersection with Road I and proceeding north 7.5 miles to Kansas Highway 190;

• Larabee Road: 1-inch mill and 2-inch HMA overlay from the Oklahoma state line to the Liberal city limits;

• Road R: 1-inch mill and 2-inch HMA starting at the intersection with U.S. Highway 54, then proceeding west and north 8.9 miles to U.S. Highway 160;

• Road V and Road 16: Road V from Meade Lake Road proceeding north 2.5 miles north to Hwy. 54; Road 16 from Road T, proceeding east 1.5 miles to the south end on the Kismet Main Street curve; and

• Meade Lake Road: 1.5-inch mill and 3-inch HMA overlay from Hwy,. 54, proceeding east 5.5 miles to the Meade County line.

“This project is a mill and overlay,” the release said. “Flaggers and a pilot car will be used during daylight hours. Delays of up to 15 minutes can be expected.”
