Maria Elisa Morales has known for a long time she wanted to have a career in something creative, and recently, she took a big step with that in opening her new store Eli Fancysweet at 1038 N. Kansas Ave.
As she tells it, she has long been known for her creativity.
“When I was young, I started creating little flower arrangements for friends and family, and eventually, I started working on bigger arrangements and making them more personalized,” Maria Elisa said. “I knew I was creative and worked hard on each arrangement to make them look really nice, and it makes me feel good knowing I’m touching my clients’ lives with my work. I eventually wanted to have something bigger so more people could see me and what I’m capable of, especially since Liberal doesn’t really have very many options when it comes to flower arranging. I was thinking about it for a long time, and I started doing arrangements from home, and even though I don’t have a degree, I’m very creative and have many ideas and big dreams. I knew this was what I wanted to do, so I took the steps to make it happens. While doing this from home, I got a following on social media and eventually made up my mind to have a bigger operation. And this is a great location for us to create arrangements that are pretty and unique, and I know we can help a lot of people with their flower needs.”
Maria Elisa said the store will have a lot to offer.
“We’re going to be offering big arrangements of flowers, and they’re going to be designed based on what the customer wants depending on the time of the year, the occasion and everything else, they’re going to be very personalized,” Maria Elisa said. “We can make flower arrangements based on if someone wants to propose, weddings, quinceañeras, an everyday gift – no matter the occasion, we can make the arrangement happen. We have a big selection of roses and other flowers, and we have multiple colors to choose from. We also have other gifts available like stuffed animals and candy and things like that.”
Maria Elisa’s husband, Santiago, said the store’s location is perfect for their needs.
“It’s just a really great location because we’re on Kansas Avenue and right by Light Park and some other stores, so it’s just a good location geographically speaking,” Santiago said. “People drive by all the time, and I know we’ll be privy to all the different activities coming up in the park, like the Duck Race Festival, and I’m excited for people to find us. We would love for people to come in and see us, everyone is sure to find something pretty for their home or for a family member or friend or significant other. We can put something together that’s very pretty for them.”
Eli Fancysweet is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week, and Maria Elisa said she is excited to help as many people in the community as possible with their floral needs.
“We’re really excited to help people in the community and be here, and I’m so glad we’ll finally have our doors open to everyone,” Maria Elisa said. “We’ve been working on this and dreaming about this for a long time, and I’m so glad it’s finally come true. People can also follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. We can’t wait to meet as many people in the community as possible and help them out!”
