The USD 480 school board should have an easy evening for its next meeting Monday evening starting at 6:30. Monday’s meeting will be in Room B110 at Seymour Rogers Middle School at 721 Griffith Avenue.

Up first for the board will be the second reading of Policy JGG concerning transportation.

“Changes include bus rider eligibility, transportation denial appeals process and formatting,” the agenda information noted. “This policy change has been reviewed and approved by the Policy Committee and legal counsel.”

Up next for the board will be discussion of a purchase of a rain screen for Maskus Auditorium at Liberal High School.

“USD 480 has solicited bids to furnish and install a rainscreen exterior around the auditorium at Liberal High School,” the agenda information noted. “The following bids were received: Osborne Construction out of Topeka, in the amount of $2,176,581; Diamond Roofing out of Dodge City, in the amount of $2,487,000; and Icon Structures out of Wichita, in the amount of $2,754,000. Staff recommends the board approve the bid from Osborne Construction in the amount of $2,176,581.”

The board will also be discussing software and service renewals and then an agreement with IdeaTek.

“There is a paragraph needing to remove reference to a shared network, and Article 3 needs to be specified as optional should USD480 choose IdeaTek to help with a future project,” the agenda information noted. “Also, Vault 13 need to be changed from a USD 480 vault to an Ideatek vault. USD 480 vault is located at the southern point of old ESC line. Staff recommends the board approve the agreement between USD 480 and IdeaTek pending acceptance of the listed changes.”

To conclude the new business, the board will be asked to approve the purchase of laptops for the 2024-25 school year.
