The care of military veterans continues to be a big topic and recently, U.S. Sen. Jerry Moran helped introduce some legislation to help with just that.
Last Friday, Moran and Angus King (I-Maine) introduced legislation to direct the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and other research partners to comprehensively study the impacts of repetitive low-level blast injuries on veterans’ mental health, according to a release from Moran’s office.
The Precision Brain Health Research Act of 2025 would require VA to work with the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine to create a ten-year research plan to establish the effects of repetitive low-level blast injuries, the release continued, where benchmarks must be reported to Congress, in order to develop further legislation for veterans who suffer with the effects of these repetitive blast exposures.
Much improvement was seen in 2024, and more will continue to be seen in 2025 with the Seward County government entity.
Administrator April Warden said the roof remodel, along with remodeling to the rest of the courthouse was just the start of work for county workers, and that project is still ongoing at this time.
“We did implement quarterly town hall meetings, and we always do one in the city of Kismet,” she said. “We do quarterly strategic planning sessions. We revamped our employee handbook.”
This past week’s weather was not so nice, with gusty winds and wind chills more than just a little below actual temperatures.
Despite this, it is March, and spring is just around the corner. The season gives many an excuse to get some cleaning around the house and remove some items no longer in use from the home.
For many, this is done through garage sales and yard sales, and Saturday, March 15, at the Seward County Activity Center, those who frequent these sales will have a chance to peruse items from many individuals – all under one roof.
