This year’s Baby Cakes winner is Averi Mote.
She was born at 10:51 a.m. Pancake Day, weighed 8 pounds, 13 ounces and was 20.5 inches long.
Her parents are Lesly Arriaga and Trevor Mote of Hooker Okla., who received a gift basket provided by the Liberal Area Coalition for Families.
Baby Cakes is awarded to the first baby born on or after Pancake Day at Southwest Medical Center

Ernesto Goitia of Liberal and Brad Rickman of Guymon, Okla. were recently recognized for completing 1 million miles without an accident while driving for National Carriers, Inc.
Both men operate within the National Carriers Hide Division, which transports cattle hides from National Beef packing plants to their tannery located in Saint Joseph, Mo.
Both men received commemorative mud flaps, a personalized winter jacket, and a crystal plaque.
The Lenten season is officially here, and for multiple religious denominations, the season includes readings of the Stations of the Cross that depict Jesus’ journey to His crucifixion.
Liberal’s Baker Arts Center opened a special Stations of the Cross exhibit Monday evening, and Baker Arts Center Director Brittyn Heronemus said she and the board had been approached about such an exhibit earlier this year.
This weekend saw plenty of fun things for people to do in the Liberal community, among them the start of International Pancake Day and Homecoming at Seward County Community College.
The Seward County Activity Center had its own fun Saturday with many young people taking part in the annual Southwest Kansas First LEGO League Tournament there.
