KDOT urges all ATV drivers to respect all work zones

Safety concerns and property damage incidents have been reported near the bridge replacement project on U.S. Highway 83B, south of Garden City.

A blocked-off area on the Arkansas River channel near the project is marked with barricades and construction fencing. This blocked-off area is a work zone for equipment storage and other work-related activities, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation.

Gov. Kelly signs bills to help Good Samaritans, driver's license fines

The month of May has been a busy one for the Kelly Administration, with a couple major bills signed last week.

Last Thursday saw Gov. Laura Kelly sign House Substitute for Senate Bill 419, bipartisan legislation that provides legal protections for those that seek or provide medical assistance to a person suffering a medical emergency related to drug use, according to a release from the State of Kansas

The 2024 session of the Kansas Legislature is nearing a close, but tax relief still appears to be in limbo.

“The big news is the pending veto,” 115th House District Representative Gary White said at the May 8 visit he and 125th House District Representative Shannon Francis made last week to the Depot in Liberal.

Those looking for a place to buy some collectibles to add to their own collection now have a new place in town.

Ada and Son Collectibles Emporium had its ribbon-cutting last week, and co-owner Ada Linenbroker said the road to getting her own space was slightly winding.

District approves lighting projects at special meeting

Redskin Field and the Liberal High School East Campus field will be getting new lighting thanks to some action by the USD 480 school board Monday morning at a special meeting.

The meeting began with discussion of the LHS East Campus field lighting project.
