L&T staff report

Despite taking leads in each of the games against Hutchinson, the Seward County Lady Saints couldn’t maintain momentum and dropped a three-set match to the Hutchinson Lady Blue Dragons Wednesday in the Greenhouse.

Seward had a 6-3 lead in Game 1, but the Lady Blue Dragons battled back with six straight points to take a 9-6 lead.

The score stayed competitive, but the Lady Saints could never regain the lead. Hutchins stretched out to a six-point lead, and the Lady Saints put together a mini rally late before dropping the match 25-22.

Seward again clawed out an early lead in Game 2, but the Blue Dragons also battled back for a second time and regained the lead.

Hutchinson built up an eight-point lead before the Lady Saints were able to cut into the lead before Hutchinson took a time out with a 22-18 lead.

But Hutchinson was able to score the final three points to earn a 25-18 win.

The third game was much like the previous two. Seward took another lead, but they could not hold it.

Much like Game 2, the Lady Saints couldn’t rally and fell 25-18.

The Lady Saints have fallen to 3-7 on the season and 0-1 in the Jayhawk Conference.

The Lady Saints will host Cloud County in an attempt to even their conference record Saturday. First serve is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in the Greenhouse.
