Hailey Contreras knows a little something about putting the ball in the net.

In basketball, Contreras became the all-time leading three-point shooter in Lady Redskin history, and Tuesday, she set another school record by scoring six goals in a single game to lead the Lady Redskins to a 7-0 win over Great Bend.

The Lady Redskins started the game facing a stiff breeze, but despite ging up the wind advantage, the Lady Redskins were able to push the ball to the Great Bend end of the field for most of the first half.

Mayra Hernandez started the scoring with the first goal of the game, but after that it was all Contreras.

Contreras added three more goals before halftime to give the Lady Redskins a 4-0 lead.

The Lady Redskins had a slight breeze to their back in the second half, but Great Bend played solid defense early and didn’t give the Lady Redskins many scoring chances.

But in the final 10 minutes, the Lady Redskins broke the game wide open when Contreras kick in a goal for a 5-0 lead.

Two minutes later she was at it again when she tied Ashley Carrillo’s record with her fifth goal of the night.

It appeared the two would share the record until the final two minutes when Contreras again found the back of the Lady Panther net for her record-setting goal and a 7-0 win.

The Lady Redskins moved to 3-2 on the season and 1-1 in the Western Athletic Conference.

Liberal travels to Hays (3-2) today.
