Kansas USA Wrestling hosted their District tournaments last weekend. District 4 had their tournament in Hays at the Gross Memorial Coliseum March 7 and 8.
There were 1,353 wrestlers in attendance over the two days. Liberal Wrestling Club took 30 wrestlers to compete and had 12 qualify to advance to State in Topeka this weekend.
Liberal had three District 4 champions for this year. They were Jason Fraire, 8U 125 pounds, one pin; Jacobie Fraire, 10U 170 pounds, one tech fall and two pins; and JJ Mata, 10U 190 pounds.
“These three boys always work hard and we are so proud of their accomplishments throughout the year,” coach Krista Holcomb said.
The top four finishers are able to advance to the State tournament. Those also qualifying were:
Sofia Torres, 10U girls 70 pounds, fourth place, one pin.
Joel Baeza, 10U 170 pounds, fourth place.
Elias Holcomb, 12U 110 pounds, fourth place, three pins.
Lill Osborn, 14U 95 pounds, third place, one tech fall and one pin.
AC Gomez, 14U 145 pounds, second place, one pin.
Zayden Norez, 14U 205 pounds, second place, one pin.
Keirsie Carlile, HS girls 100 pounds, second place.
Isabela Gutierrez, HS girls 110 pounds, third place, two pins.
Brian Casas, HS 113 pounds, third place.

Liberal Wrestling Club would like to thank everyone who has supported them throughout this season.
