Liberal secured a dominant 9-3 victory over Guymon with a strong offensive performance in their season opener.

The scoring opened just three minutes in to the game when sophomore Evelin Tarango found the net from outside the left side of the goal.

Senior Nicole Catalan quickly followed with another goal.

Tarango struck again, this time assisted by freshman Lily Guy, who delivered a precise cross from the far right.

Guy then added her own goal after receiving a well-placed pass from Catalan, dribbling to the middle for a clean tap-in.

The final goal of the first half came from an assist by Guy to Catalan, who volleyed the ball into the net.

Guymon responded early in the second half, scoring 12 minutes in. However, Liberal answered when freshman Ana Vela capitalized on a misplayed pass by the opposing goalkeeper, firing a shot into the goal from way out.

Guymon added two more goals before Liberal closed out the match with a three-goal surge from Guy, sealing the 9-3 win.

Junior goalkeeper Aaliyah Morales and the back line put in a strong defensive effort, with Morales recording four saves. Liberal finished with 18 shots on goal and earned five corner kicks in the match.

The Lady Redskins will open up the home slate of the schedule at 5 p.m. tonight when they host Denver school Bruce Randolph at Redskin Field.
