The Liberal Redskins continued to take their game on the road after a 13-game homestand to start the season and earned a come-from-behind win over Garden City Tuesday in a Western Athletic Conference match-up.

The win gave the Redskins a 2-1 season series win over the Buffaloes.

After the Redskins pushed a single run across the plate in the top of the first inning, the Buffaloes responded with five runs against starting pitcher Skylar Hubbard.

The Redskins cut into the lead in the fourth inning by scoring two runs, but the Buffaloes answered with a run in the bottom of the inning to push the Buffalo lead to 6-3.

Garden City added two more runs to the lead in the fifth inning to jump out to an 8-3 lead before the Redskins erupted for six runs in the sixth inning to take a 9-8 lead.

Marco Alonso tossed a scoreless sixth inning, and Blayden Betts earned the save with a scoreless seventh, and the Redskins escaped Garden City with a 9-8 win.

Hubbard went three-and-third innings and allowed six runs, four of those earned, on five hits and four walks while striking out three.

Alonso threw two-and-two-thirds innings and allowed two earned runs on two hits and two walks while striking out three.

Betts struck out the side in the seventh and did not allow a hit or a walk to secure the save.

Alex Schwindt led the Redskins at the plate with two hits including a triple and an RBI.

Xavier Porras also had two hits.

Alonso had a double.

Liberal outhit Garden City 10-7 and overcame four errors while Garden City did not commit an error.

The Redskins moved to 5-11 on the season and will travel to Cimarron for a double header Friday against the 9-5 Blue Jays.

Liberal will travel to Great Bend Tuesday for a single game against the 11-3 Panthers.
