Zoey Torres had a strong day at the plate for the Lady Redskin softball team, but without additional support the Lady Redskins were not able to earn a Western Athletic Conference win against Garden City Thursday and dropped a pair to the Lady Buffaloes.

Liberal was competitive in Game 1 but fell short 7-3.

Torres had a two-for-three performance at the plate.

Madalynn McCarter had Liberal’s only other hit in the loss.

Liberal and Garden City started 2-2 after the first inning of Game 2, but the Lady Redskins couldn’t slow the Lady Buffalo bats in a 14-4 loss.

Garden City belted out 12 hits to go along with four Lady Redskin errors.

Torres had a perfect three-for-three performance at the plate and had three RBIs in the loss.

Liberal had six hits as a team.

Liberal dropped to 4-11 and will travel to Cimarron Tuesday.
