The Seward County men picked up an 84-62 win over the Pratt Beavers at The Greenhouse on Wednesday evening.
Seward (16-7, 11-6) is now 9-1 at home this season and has earned back-to-back wins to pull within a game of first place in the Jayhawk standings. Pratt is 6-16 overall and 3-14 in conference play.
The Saints exploded for 50 first-half points, shooting 16-30 from the field, 7-13 from three, and 11-14 from the free-throw line. Lyna Brooks Jr. scored all 11 of his points in the first half while Korbin Dowdell had 10 first half points to help lead the way.
Pratt scored the first four points of the game and led for much of the first five minutes. A Dowdell triple tied the game 10-10 at the 15:15 mark and another Dowdell three 90 seconds later gave Seward the lead for good as they did not trail again in the game.
A 19-2 run from the 11:22 mark to the 6:11 mark of the first half gave Seward a 33-16 lead. Quincey Kidd, Antonio Williams Jr. and Brooks Jr. each hit threes during the stretch. Another Kidd three put Seward ahead by 20, 38-18. The Saints led by 27 at halftime, 50-23.
Pratt outscored Seward 39-34 in the second half but the closest they got was 17 points after a furious 17-0 run early in the half.
Williams Jr. led all scorers with 20 points, shooting 11-14 from the free throw line. N'Gombo had 16 points, Bailey Milligan finished with 13 points and Dowdell had 10.
Seward forced 20 Pratt turnovers and shot 12-26 (46.2%) from three and 24-29 (82.8%) from the free throw line. They outrebounded Pratt 32-26
PCC saw Hunter Vaughn finish with 18 points and four assists while Scottie Guillory had 12 points.
The Saints are back at it on Sunday in Goodland taking on Fort Hays Tech Northwest with tipoff set for 2 p.m. central time.
