The Lady Red faced a tough defeat against Hays, with a final score of 2-1. Hays took an early lead in the first half, scoring two goals, at the 11th and 34th minutes.
The Lady Red showed resilience in the second half, with a goal coming in the 10th minute from senior Karime Neave, who took advantage of a corner kick delivered by freshman Liliana Santiago.
The defense worked hard in the second half dominating the pitch for the last 40 minutes. The Lady Red managed to keep Hays from scoring any additional goals and possessed the ball the majority of the half. Despite out-shooting the Indians in the second half the Lady Red couldn't find the equalizer.
Liberal fell to 1-2 in the Western Athletic Conference, 3-3 overall.
For three innings, the Lady Redskins and Great Bend Lady Panthers played even, but Liberal struggled to get stop the Great Bend Panthers the rest of the way in a 15-4 loss.
The Lady Redskins trailed 2-1 after the first inning but took a 4-3 lead after the third inning.
But the Lady Panthers pushed five runs across the plate in the fourth inning and three more in the fifth to take an 11-4 lead.
The Lady Redskins struggled art the plate the rest of the way and could not keep pace.
