L&T staff report
At about 6:30 a.m. Friday, the Seward County Sheriff’s office was dispatched to a Westhaven Drive residence regarding a reported domestic disturbance at the home of Liberal City Commissioner Jose Lara.
According to a release from the Seward County Sheriff’s Department, “Contact was made with two individuals engaged in an active verbal and physical altercation inside the structure.”
However, video evidence viewed by the L&T did not show any altercation at the time officers arrived or during their time at the residence.
Based on a preliminary on-scene investigation, probable cause was established to arrest Lara for domestic battery.
*The person(s) involved have not yet been convicted of a crime and are presumed innocent. The presumption of innocence shall continue until such time that the person(s) accused may be found guilty by a court of law.*
