The Kansas Supreme Court Justices will be in Liberal for a special evening session held on Tuesday at Liberal High School. Across the street, at the Southwest Corner of Blue Bonnet Park, Kansans for Life, the leading pro-life organization in the state, will host a peaceful demonstration including a public display of AFTERMATH – an immersive, life-size exhibit showing the human cost of the Court’s abortion rulings in Kansas.
Kansans for Life (KFL) is looking to draw a crowd of locals and Kansans from across the state to bring attention to the fact that recent rulings from the Kansas Supreme Court have had devastating consequences for women and babies in our state.

Following the Kansas Supreme Court’s 2019 Hodes & Nauser v. Schmidt decision, which stripped away long-standing protections for women and preborn children, Kansas has become a destination state for abortion, and abortions have nearly tripled in the state in just 5 years. In 2024 alone, 19,811 abortions were reported in Kansas, and this is the latest data released by the state.
AFTERMATH, a first-of-its-kind, traveling memorial was created in direct response to the skyrocketing number of abortions in Kansas following the Supreme Court’s radical 2019 ruling. Spanning the size of a basketball court, Aftermath displays 19,811 fetal models — each representing a child lost to abortion in Kansas in 2024. Visitors encounter information that helps explain how Kansas arrived at this point because of bad rulings from the State Supreme Court, according to Kansans for Life. Visitors have an opportunity to learn and react.

The Sept. 22 display and demonstration event will allow Kansans to publicly respond to the Kansas Supreme Court on behalf of women and babies, and to hold our Justices accountable for their decisions.
Behind each life lost through abortion is also a woman with her own story - someone who may have felt afraid, pressured, alone, or believed abortion was her only option. Aftermath is not about shaming individuals. It is about making the collective cost visible and moving Kansas communities toward greater compassion, action, and support. To understand the scope, it must be seen.
