Southwest Medical Center is pleased to announce Zak Ibrahim, MD, a board-certified, fellowship-trained spine surgeon, will be joining the Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Care Center later this month.
Dr. Ibrahim brings more than three decades of experience in orthopedic and spinal surgery, with a focus on minimally invasive and robotic-assisted techniques. He joins the clinic after spending the last two decades in Denver, where he was a leader in advancing minimally invasive spine care and owned his own Spine & Robotic Surgery practice.
Dr. Ibrahim is recognized as one of the first surgeons in the United States to utilize robotic guidance for spinal surgery, reflecting his long-standing commitment to innovation, research, and continued advancement in the field.
“I believe in a conservative, open-minded approach to spine care,” Dr. Ibrahim said. “My goal is to explore all appropriate treatment options and partner with patients to help them return to function, mobility, and quality of life.”
Dr. Ibrahim completed medical school at the University of Minnesota, where he was elected to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society for academic excellence. He went on to complete an orthopedic surgery residency at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago, followed by a spine surgery fellowship at the University of California, San Diego. During his fellowship, Dr. Ibrahim served as lead author on numerous scientific publications and contributed to several medical textbook chapters.
At Southwest Medical Center, Dr. Ibrahim will join Dr. Firas Kawtharani, orthopedic surgeon, expanding access to advanced spine, orthopedic, and sports medicine care for the region.
Dr. Ibrahim will see patients at the Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Care Center and will begin accepting appointments in late March.
