Artesian Valley Health System
Artesian Valley Health System (AVHS) is proud to announce the addition of Ruth Ann Swaney, DNP, APRN, FNP-C, to its growing team of primary care providers.
Ruth Ann earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from Fort Hays State University.
Throughout her health care career spanning more than 16 years, she has cared for patients in a variety of settings, including long-term care, emergency medical services, and nursing leadership.
Beginning her career as a certified nursing assistant at the age of 18, Ruth Ann advanced through the nursing profession to become a registered nurse, director of nursing and now a family nurse practitioner.
Her connection to AVHS began during clinical education, where she completed two semesters of clinical rotations.
“I completed two semesters of clinical rotations here and fell in love with the staff, patients, and atmosphere at AVHS,” Swaney said. “I’m honored to have the opportunity to return and serve the community that made such a lasting impression on me.”
Swaney believes exceptional healthcare begins with listening to patients and empowering them to take an active role in their health.
“Health is personal, and everyone is in their own driver’s seat. Always advocate for yourself and your healthcare,” she said.
She also values the culture of compassion that defines AVHS.
“Everyone is committed to providing individualized patient care that allows each patient to receive the time and attention needed for their care,” she said.
Outside of her professional career, Swaney enjoys spending time outdoors and photographing nature. She and her family, whose children range in age from newborn to high school, look forward to becoming an even greater part of the Meade community.
Swaney will begin seeing patients in the coming weeks. Additional information regarding appointment scheduling and clinic availability will be announced by AVHS as those details become available.
