Ruth Louise (Knowles) Horton, 89, died Sunday, April 12, 2026. 

She was born Dec. 15, 1936 to Homer and Cecilia (Groth) Knowles.

She graduated from Satanta High School.

She married Roy Horton July 23, 1961. He preceded her in death.

She was a member of Hugoton First Christian Church.

She enjoyed traveling, spending winters in South Texas and enjoying camping trips.

Survivors include her children, Scott Horton and Kay Shurtleff; brother, Robert Knowles and wife, Sandra; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Cole Twilligear; and brothers, Leland Knowles and John Knowles.

• Friends may call from 12 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 16, 2026 and Friday, April 17, 2026 at Robson Funeral Home in Hugoton.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2026 at Hugoton Assembly of God Church.

Burial will follow at the Hugoton Cemetery in Hugoton.

A memorial has been established in her honor for the Hugoton Sports Booster Club, in care of Robson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 236, Hugoton, KS 67951.
