JOHNSON – W. Jean Morris, 91, died Sunday, May 3, 2026, at the Stanton County Long Term Care Unit in Johnson.
She was born October 13, 1934 to Lewellyn and Flossie (Hisey) Sturdevant.
She married Virgil Moyne Morris July 19, 1953. He preceded her in death.
She began her career at Stanton County Hospital as a nurse’s aide and eventually became a registered medical technologist in the laboratory.
She also gave her time and care to the Stanton County Senior Center, where she worked as the director for many years.
She was a passionate artist who loved painting, sewing, quilting, crocheting, ceramics and art journaling.
She was a member of Fields Memorial Wesleyan Church for more than 60 years.
She also contributed her time to the hospital auxiliary, Extension Homemakers Unit, and was active at Main Artery Studio in Ulysses.
Survivors include her children: Michael Lee Morris and wife, Connie, Patricia Jean Long and husband, John, Sharita Kay Floyd and husband, Daniel, and Randall Moyne Morris and wife, Angela; sister, Linda Kay Downing and husband, Randy; brother, Timothy Lee Sturdevant and wife, Cheryl; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and two infant sisters.
• Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, May 11, 2026 at the Fields Memorial Wesleyan Church in Johnson, with Pastor Erik Miravete presiding.
Burial will follow at the Stanton County Cemetery.
