Johnny Pineda, 72, died Sunday, June 14, 2026 at his home in Liberal.

He was born Feb. 20, 1954 to Juan and Elidia (Pacheco) Pineda.

He worked for many years in the oil fields as a head derrick hand.

He loved fishing, hunting, playing pool, watching western movies and listening to music. 

Survivors include his sons, Juan “Johnny” Pineda and wife, Jeanette, and Jason Lee Pineda and wife, Mary; daughters, Amanda Arredondo and husband, Luis, and Dulce Johanna Pineda; brother, Joe Pineda; sister, Bernice Ruybal; cousin, Jessie Gale Archuleta; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Rosary will be at 5 p.m. Monday, June 22, 2026 at Hornung Family Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at the Hornung Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Seiwert presiding.

Cremation will take place.
