The rise of the Democratic Socialist Party is happening about as fast as the Bolsheviks took over Russia.
From presidents like Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Reagan, warnings have been issued that freedom and liberty only die in America by our own hand, not by some conquering outside force.
And we might be watching it in real time.
Notice these candidates are not infiltrating the Republican Party. They have softened the ground inside the Democratic Party with the likes of Bernie Sanders (who is technically an independent) and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez along with Rashida Tlaib and other members of the “Squad.”
The allowed the infiltration to start, and now it is in the open. It may have earned national attention when Zohran Mamdani became mayor of New York City with promises of free bus rides, government-owned grocery stores and rental controls, but it is now gaining prominence in other far-left districts.
Even the statewide Democratic voters in Michigan jumped on the Democratic Socialists of America train by nominating Abdul El-Sayed for the U.S. Senate.
By the way, it is a goal of the DSA to abolish the Senate, finding it to be “undemocratic.”
It is true that the Senate is not democratic. Had it been, there would be no United states of America. Known as “The Great Compromise,” the Founders split Congress by representing two key groups — the citizens by population in the House of Representatives and the equality of each state in the Senate.
Statehood matters. Abolishing the Senate is simply the beginning of losing the identity of each state, which is the goal of the Democratic Socialists. Anything that provides you an individual identity must be stripped away, starting with your regional identity.
They won’t tell you that, and they will use other “identifiers” like the color of your skin as a way to divide you into tribes so you feel you need the government to provide protection.
And they, of course, want to be the ones running the government.
These people aren’t blue collar, either.
Abdul El-Sayed earned a bachelor’s degree in biology and political science from the University of Michigan in 2007, a Doctor of Philosophy in public health from Oriel College, Oxford in 2011 as a Rhodes Scholar, and a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Columbia University in 2014.
These are academic elites who believe they can run your life better than you can.
Party memberships, in either party, has to come with an understanding of what the party represents. The concept of the “big tent” has its place with universal issues, but when it comes to the gateway drug of socialism to communism, the Democratic Party needs to decide if it wants to inhale.
Some are speaking out against the influx of socialists into the Democratic Party, but will it be enough to deny these candidates access to the Democratic machine that helps get candidates elected?
In a year where Democrats should easily take control of the House, will these candidates stand up to Republican challengers in deep blue districts? And if they do, will they splinter the Democratic coalition, giving themselves a greater voice in a narrowly divided House by demanding social concessions?
Time will tell.
Once the DSA has control of the Democratic Party, the battle for individual liberty will take place, and we can all remember when it started and which party let it happen.
