The Turpin Cardinals racked up 528 yards of offense, averaging almost 12 yards per play, while their defense held Stanton County to just 175 yards in a 62-14 mercy-rule win.

Cesar Quintana was 11 of 13 for 192 yards and two touchdowns passing and ran for 130 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries to lead the Cardinals’ offense. Saul Alvarado ran for a couple of scores and 98 yards on just 8 carries and caught five passes for 56 yards and a touchdown. Roger Sierra ran for 77 yards and two touchdowns on just 4 carries, including the game ending TD run. Max Garza caught four passes for 92 yards; Aaron Gandarilla caught five passes for 53 yards and a touchdown. Max Porras came off the bench to throw for a touchdown as well.

On the defensive side, Saul Alvarado had 15 tackles including 3 for loss and an interception; Alex Alvarado had 8 tackles including one for loss, Max Garza tallied three sacks and six tackles, Daniel Ponce had seven tackles and a sack, and Roger Sierra had eight tackles including two for loss. Teak Rorabaugh added five tackles and a sack; Aaron Gandarilla had three tackles for loss with a total of six tackles, and Mason Barnett had five tackles and a sack.

Turpin (2-0) is off this week and will return to action on September 18 at Buffalo.
