Despite holding a decisive edge in shots, Seward County could not find the breakthrough it needed and settled for a 0-0 draw against the Barton Cougars on Wednesday evening at Redskin Field.

The Lady Saints (4-4-1, 1-3-1 KJCCC) earned a point in the conference standings with the draw. Barton moved to 2-0-6 overall and 0-0-5 in league play.

Seward outshot Barton 21-12, including a 14-6 advantage in the second half, but were unable to capitalize on its opportunities. Nine Lady Saints recorded at least one shot, led by Julia Astrath with four attempts, including two on goal. Marcela De Sousa and Nathalie Reginatto each added two shots on target.

The Lady Saints used Caroline Benck in goal during the first half and Christie Kannengiesser in the second. Benck made two saves, while Kannengiesser stopped three shots.

Each team earned four corner kicks in the match.

Barton goalkeeper Graciela Medina recorded eight saves to preserve the shutout.

Seward nearly found a late winner in the closing seconds. The Lady Saints generated multiple chances in the final minute, including a shot from Juliana Salazar that sailed just high and wide as time expired.

Seward returns to Redskin Field on Saturday to host Dodge City at 4 p.m.
