TURPIN, Okla.--The Turpin Cardinals cruised to their third straight mercy-rule win with a 52-6 victory over the Canton Bulldogs in their home opener.

The Cardinal offense cranked out 500 yards despite ending the game less than two minutes into the fourth quarter. The Turpin offense averaged just shy of 18 yards per play. Quarterback Cesar Quintana completed 12 of 14 passes for 366 yards and 5 touchdowns. Quintana has thrown for a combined 11 touchdowns in the last two games while completing 92 percent of his passes over that same span.

Mason Barnett caught three of those touchdowns on just five catches. Barnett covered 166 yards and averaged a gaudy 33 yards per catch. Aaron Gandarilla averaged 40 yards per catch on his three catches for 121 yards and a touchdown. Saul Alvarado totaled 102 yards and two touchdowns on seven touches. Max Garza scored from thirty yards out on his only catch and Max Porras ran one in from 45 yards out.

Defensively Turpin held Canton to just 176 total yards and six first downs.

Saul Alvarado led the team with 15 tackles, including one for loss; Alex Alvarado had 10 tackles, Daniel Ponce finished with 11 tackles including two for loss, Roger Sierra added seven tackles and a sack, Max Garza finished with eight tackles including one for loss, Teak Rorabaugh has six tackles and a sack, Mason Barnett had five tackles and an interception, and Andrew Acevedo had five tackles including one for loss.

No.4 Turpin (4-0) will host Clayton, New Mexico in their final non-district game.
