L&T staff report

Liberal’s football season came to an end in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs with a 41-7 loss at Bishop Carroll in Marc Svaty’s first season as the head coach.

The Redskins kept the game close early and only trailed 7-0 at the end of the first quarter. But the Golden Eagles were able to move the ball in the second quarter and expanded the lead to 21-0 by halftime.

Carroll had the ball at the Liberal 1-yard line before halftime, but time expired.

The Redskin offense had a big play late in the half, but an interception ended the threat.

Carroll pushed the lead to 41-0 before Dareon Denton completed a 27-yard touchdown pass to Alvin Almador in the final minute.
