District 4 hosted its Championship Tournament in Hays over the weekend of March 6 and 7. Liberal Wrestling Club took 32 wrestlers to the tournament. The top 4 from each weight class had the opportunity to advance to State tournament that took place in Topeka March 13 through 15.
Claiming the District 4 Championship title for 14U boys 100 pounds was Liberal’s, Lill Osborn. He entered the tournament seeded No. 1 and did not let that title get away from him. “We are so proud of Lill. He works hard during his time on the mat and is a great leader for our club to have. He is very deserving!” said Coach Krista Holcomb.
Other qualifiers for the State tournament are Kendall Mosttler, 8U girls 75 lbs; Sofia Torres, 12U girls 85 lbs; JJ Mata, 12U boys 190 lbs; Iker Hernandez, 14U boys 130 lbs; Vani Chavez, 14U boys 145 lbs; Brian Casas, HS boys 113 lbs; and AC Gomez, HS boys 150 lbs.

“We are so proud of all of our wrestlers. Many came up just short of qualifying but they all gave it their all. Some of those that did not qualify are already back on the mat to improve and meet their goals for next season!” Holcomb said.
