According to Lady Redskin swim coach Ismael Carrillo, the team had a great fourth meet Tuesday at Great Bend.
“We had multiple swimmers try new events and strokes for the first time this season,” Carrillo said. “With a small team of 29, we were able to secure a fifth place finish ahead of Holcomb.”
Third was Great Bend, Dodge City was fourth, and Liberal scored 234 points and was only 17 points behind in fifth.
The team was led by Jyzelle Juarez as she medaled in the 50 Free as well as led her relays with the fastest leg in the 200 Free (31.17) and 400 Free 1:11.07) Relay.
Alexis Ugalde also set a new personal record in her 100 Free by dropping three seconds(1:11.32), .25 seconds behind Jyzelle’s 100 free time.
Freshman Jordyn Myers continued to show significant growth as she sets a new PR in her 100 Free by dropping 12 seconds and getting the fourth fastest 100 free on the team.
The team will be traveling to Garden City Tuesday in an all WAC meet.
