Judyth “Judy" Ann Armstrong, 66, died Monday, Jan. 27, 2025 at Hospice House at Huguley in Burleson, Texas, with her family at her side after a two-year battle with ovarian cancer.
She was born Jan. 29, 1958 to Melvin and Jimmie (LaFon) Merz in Garden City.
She married Stephen Armstrong Jan. 8, 1977, in Liberal. He survives.
She attended grade school in Deerfield and later graduated from Liberal High School in 1976, before attending Liberal Vo-Tech School.
She spent her career in banking for 48 years. She worked for 29 years at Woodhaven National Bank. For the past five years, she worked in Human Resources at Pinnacle Bank in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area until her passing.
During her time at Woodhaven – prior to solely being HR – she worked as a BSA/Compliance Officer. In that role, she helped start a luncheon where compliance officers from other banks all over the metroplex would come to share information and network together.
In her free time, she enjoyed going to the movies, traveling to New York City during the Christmas season, attending multiple Doobie Brothers and Rolling Stones concerts, as well as many OU football games.
She also loved spending time with her family, planting flowers and maintaining their swimming pool. She also loved her cats.
Survivors also include her son, Michael (Cami), Palestine, Texas; grandchildren: Riley Armstrong, Alyson Armstrong and Colton Armstrong; twin sister, Janet (Alan) Freeman, Liberal; and brother, Steven (Lori) Merz, Liberal.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Keith; and her maternal and paternal grandparents.
o Cremation has taken place under the direction of Church Angels Funeral Home in Grandbury, Texas.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 2025 at Messiah Lutheran Church at 1308 Whitley Road #101 in Keller, Texas.
