HUGOTON – Shirley Jane Mitchell, 88, died Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Western Prairie Senior Living Community Memory Care Unit in Ulysses.
She was born Nov. 2, 1936 in Hugoton.
She graduated from Hugoton High School with the Class of 1954.
She was a homemaker and a paraprofessional for 10 years at the Garden City Schools.
She was active in the community and volunteered at the St. Catherine Hospital Gift Shop and the Senior Citizens Center.
She enjoyed sewing, knitting, needle point, quilting and restoring antiques.
Survivors include son, Burt Mitchell and wife, Julie; sisters, Sharon Butler and Robin Hawkins; brothers, Larry Creamer and Roy Creamer; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mel and Polly Creamer; son, Steven Mitchell; daughter, Jane Mitchell; sisters: Rose Ann Lof, Charlene Pennington, Sheila Kneller, Janice Dyke, and Jo Wise; and brother, Charles “Butch” Creamer.
• Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 27, 2025 at the Hugoton Cemetery in Hugoton, with Reverend Wes Young presiding.
