ULYSSES – Robert R. Annis, 90, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2026.
He was born Jan. 11, 1936 to Lawrence Earl “Bill” and Pauline (Binney) Annis in Garden City.
He married Carol McCarty July 14, 1961. She survives.
He graduated from Grant County Rural High School and continued his education at Colorado A&M and Fort Hays State University.
He served his country in the United States Army until 1964, when he was honorably discharged.
He farmed until 1982, after which he continued serving the community through his work at Grant County Implement. He also worked for the Ulysses Co-op in the fertilizer department, where he was known for his knowledge of the land and the people who worked it.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 68 years and attained the honor of a 33rd Degree Mason.
He was a member of Shelton Memorial Christian Church.
He enjoyed golfing and reading and had a natural gift for storytelling.
Survivors also include sons, Jay and wife, Pam Annis, and Beaty and wife, Sherry Annis; daughter, Andra Moody; six grandchildren: Brett, Cody, Brynden, Tate, Rachel and Garrett; and eight great-grandchildren: Emmie, Corbin, Avery, Jayci, Emerson, Jett, Camdyn and Kayce.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
• Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, 2026 at Shelton Memorial Christian Church in Ulysses, with Reverend Casey Chapman presiding.
Burial will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery, with Military Rites conducted by Dexter D. Harbour American Legion Post #79 and Masonic Rites conducted by Masonic Lodge #435.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, 2026 at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.
