HUTCHINSON – Helen F. Wenta, 98, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2025 at her home in Hutchinson.
She was born April 29, 1927 to Lee and Esther (Williams) Ireland.
She graduated from Florence High School in 1945. She attended Phillips University in Enid, Okla., graduating with a BME degree, majoring in piano in 1949.
She married Paul T. Wenta July 4, 1950. He preceded her in death April 6, 1987.
She taught music and 6th grade at Fowler Elementary School in Fowler. She gave piano lessons to many students from surrounding towns and also accompanied musical programs, weddings and funerals.
She was a member of the Fowler Christian Church in Fowler, and an associate member of Crossroads Christian Church in Hutchinson.
Survivors include son, Alan; grandchildren: Rustin (Michelle) Lafferty, Rebecca (David) Reid, Naomi (Benjamin) Dean, Miriam (Mashalla) Gogadi, Hannah (Hernan) Aguilar, and Sarah McCarty; great-grandchildren: Christopher, Jonathan, and Nathaniel Dean, Joseph, Annaleise, and Josiah Gogadi, Katelyn Unruh, Achilles, and Alexander Aguilar, Graham and Marshall McCarty; great-great-grandchild, Kobe; and many other family and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Paula Kay Dewey; and three sisters.
• Graveside services took place Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026 at the Fowler Cemetery in Fowler.
