Ogallala Commons, a non-profit education and leadership organization, invites local food producers, gardeners and interested public to attend the Local Food Field Tour Thursday, Nov. 14, starting in Liberal from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The tour will provide information, ideas and inspiration for food producers and gardeners, as well as networking opportunities. Attendees will tour a high tunnel and greenhouse production site in Liberal and after lunch make a short drive to Plains to tour another high tunnel production farm.

The event will begin at Crosspoint Church at 204 N. Sherman Ave. in Liberal in the Family Life Center at Third and Sherman. Doors will open at 9 a.m. with registration, light refreshments and overview. Next on the tour will be Three Sisters Specialty Crop Growers followed by lunch.

After lunch, the tour group will travel a half-hour to arrive at Vermillion Farm in Plains to learn more about high tunnel vegetable production. The tour will adjourn at 2 p.m.
