On March 7, officers with the Liberal Police Department conducted a proactive enforcement operation aimed at addressing the sale of tobacco and alcohol to minors in the city of Liberal.

This operation was designed to ensure that local businesses are complying with laws prohibiting the sale of age-restricted products to individuals under the legal age.

As part of the operation, officers issued a total of 12 citations. The breakdown of the citations is as follows:

• Five citations for Furnishing Tobacco to a Minor

• One citation for Minor in Possession of Tobacco

• Six citations for Furnishing Alcohol to a Minor

The LPD is committed to maintaining the safety and well-being of the community, especially when it comes to protecting minors from underage access to tobacco and alcohol. The department urges all businesses to review and adhere to laws prohibiting the sale of these products to underage individuals.

The LPD will continue to work closely with local businesses and the community to prevent underage sales and ensure a safe environment for all residents.
