Immunize Kansas Coalition hosts annual meeting

For the Immunize Kansas Coalition, the last year has been a period of remarkable progress and resilience.

That according to Director Geovannie Gone in her letter submitted as part of the coalition’s annual report presented at IKC’s annual meeting in late July in Topeka.

IKC Community Health Specialist Patricia Fierro said the meeting likewise featured coalition staff and partners presenting recaps of the organization’s happenings throughout the past year. This information included IKC’s progress and numbers as to finances and contacts made.

Dr. Dora Finney celebrated 20 years as an optometrist earlier this week and as she tells it, her introduction to the field came at a young age.

High Plains Heritage Foundation plans annual meeting and reception for new executive director Karem Gallo

The public is invited to the High Plains Heritage Foundation Annual Meeting Thursday at the banquet room at Napoli’s Restaurant at 2 Rock Island Road. The event is also a reception for the new HPHF Executive Director Karem Gallo. The event is scheduled for 5:30 to 7 p.m. with the short annual meeting to take place at 6 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

Gallo was selected by the High Plains Heritage Foundation Board of Directors to serve as the organization’s Executive Director after a regional search was conducted.

Operation Round Up allocates nearly $18,000 to local organizations

On July 10, the foundation directors of Tri-County Electric Cooperative’s Operation Round Up convened to disburse a generous total of $17,985 to 13 local organizations that had applied for funds in the second quarter of 2024.

This significant allocation underscores the impactful role of community members who choose to round up their bills, illustrating how small contributions can collectively lead to substantial support for local initiatives.

New downtown business provides fashion ‘Revelation’

Those looking for some stylish outfits or some gameday wear now have a great new place to shop downtown.

Main Revelation, located at 206 N. Kansas Ave., had its grand opening Friday morning, and owners Beth Beard and Pamela Hamlin said the store has been in the works for a while.
