TOPEKA – The Kansas Infrastructure Hub announced this week the Southwest Kansas Groundwater Management District No. 3 has secured $1 million to convert more than 59,000 feet of earthen canal to 13,200 linear feet of pipeline in Kearny County.
“Leveraging federal dollars to supplement our state and local investments into critical infrastructure is vital to protecting and extending our state’s water supply,” Governor Laura Kelly said. “These investments ensure our communities have the resources to build, operate, and maintain critical infrastructure.”
Drivers are advised during the period of Aug. 17 through Labor Day, Sept. 2, the Seward County Sheriff’s office will join other law enforcement agencies across Kansas in a crackdown aimed at removing impaired drivers from the roadways during “You Drink. You Drive. You Lose.”
Alcohol is the main impairing substance people think of while driving, but illegal recreational drugs, such as marijuana, are just as dangerous. Driving high and/or drunk can still lead to a DUI or worse.
The City of Liberal invites the public to join a listening session about railroad crossing concerns and preview potential overpass location options. A Spanish-speaking session will take place from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, and an English-speaking session will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22. Both sessions will take place in the downstairs activity area at Liberal Memorial Library, 519 N. Kansas Ave.
In a remarkable show of community support, the Guymon Community Enrichment Foundation (GCEF) has received donations from the Tri-County Electric Cooperative’s Operation Round Up (ORU) foundation and the Oklahoma Association of Electric Cooperatives (OAEC).
This additional funding aims to provide critical assistance to residents impacted by the recent flood disaster in Texas County.
