SWMC launches new Web site to enhance patient care and community engagement

Southwest Medical Center announced the launch of its new Web site, which went live Monday. This significant upgrade is designed to provide a better experience for the community, improving patient care, quality, and satisfaction.

The new Web site will serve as a valuable resource for patients, offering easily accessible information about services, healthcare providers, appointment scheduling, and educational resources. One of the key features is a comprehensive health library, aimed at educating patients and helping them make informed decisions about their health.

Progress continues on remodel for SCCC’s truck driving program

Construction on Seward County Community College’s new West Campus is under way, and Vice President of Career Technical Education Dr. Amber Jones said she is excited about the process she said is going well.

Jones said SCCC’s truck driving program, which will be housed at the West Campus when it is complete, has been need of some expansion for some time.

Linkous updates board on first week as superintendent

The USD 480 school board made rather quick work of its agenda at its most recent meeting Monday evening.

Before the meeting’s new business came the administrator reports, and new Superintendent Stephen Linkous officially gave his first report.

County reimburses outside counsel for assistance with forfeiture case

Around $56,000 is being paid to an attorney hired to help prosecute a past case involving alleged drug trafficking in Seward County.

That news came July 1 when county commissioners voted to pay Caldwell attorney Colin Wood that amount for the hours he spent on the case.

In August 2021, a search warrant was conducted on an aircraft believed to be trafficking drugs into Seward County.

Bazaar Days 2024 to begin July 26

An early Christmas is coming later this month thanks to the Liberal Chamber of Commerce and local business partners.

The 2024 Bazaar Days will take place Friday, July 26 (with stores opening at 7 a.m.) and Saturday, July 27, with the stores operating during their regular hours. Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Rozelle Webb said planning is well underway for this year’s event.
