A community’s water supply is incredibly important and recently, the City of Liberal has been taking on a lot of work to help keep Liberal’s water fresh and running.

Most recently, the City of Liberal received the results of the annual water quality report, and Water Department Director Jose Rosales said he and staff are very proud.

The Seward County Commission hears from local residents asking for variances on zoning regulations on a regular basis, with some of those requests being approved and others denied.

Monday, the commission will hear from one of its own on such a request, as Commissioner C.J. Wettstein is requesting a variance on a garage he has built next to his house in rural Seward County.

The fall and winter seasons will be here quickly, and with that in mind, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently updated some suggestions for vaccinations.

At the end of June, CDC updated its recommendation for the use of Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) vaccines in people ages 60 and older. For this upcoming respiratory virus season, CDC recommends:

The International Division of the Kansas Department of Commerce recently announced it will begin a monthly Kansas Exporters Roundtable series in July. With three-quarters of potential customers located outside of the United States, Commerce will visit 12 cities across the state and offer assistance for small- to medium-sized Kansas companies.

“When considering whether or not to start exporting, consider viewing it as essentially expanding your business’ storefront to the entire world,” Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of Commerce David Toland said. “Exporting can bring a much wider customer base, which directly translates into increased sale numbers and profits.”
