Pedestrian identified in fatality with train

The Kansas Highway Patrol has released details regarding a train versus pedestrian accident Monday afternoon at the railroad tracks on Kansas Avenue that killed a Liberal man.

KHP reported 54-year-old Adan Lozano of Liberal was northbound on Kansas Avenue shortly after 2 p.m. when a train was eastbound on the tracks. KHP said the pedestrian was struck by the train near the intersection.

An eyewitness stated Lozano saw the train coming and started to run toward the tracks before the train reached the intersection but stumbled and fell before being struck.

Lozano was taken to Hornung Funeral Home in Liberal after he died from injuries sustained in the accident.

SCDC Entrepreneurship Director Arellano attends national conference

One of Liberal’s entrepreneurship leaders recently took part in a global event to learn more about helping local entrepreneurs.

Seward County Development Corporation Entrepreneurship Director Raquel Arellano was one of 40 delegates chosen by the Kansas Department of Commerce (KDOC) to attend the Global Entrepreneurship Congress (GEC) in early June in Indianapolis.

Models for ultrasound tests needed

Pregnant or not, Grace Place Pregnancy Care Center would love help from local women.

The center is looking for volunteers to model for ultrasounds. There is no cost, and this helps the center in its ultrasound training program and is a great way to support Grace Place’s mission.
