Southwest Medical Center is expanding its commitment to accessible, high-quality healthcare with the opening of Beaver Family Care Center, located at 322 S. Douglas in Beaver, Okla.

Ogallala Commons, in partnership with K-State Research and Extension Wild West District, invites food producers, gardeners, food crafters, and the interested public to attend the Cimarron-Arkansas Rivers Local Food Summit on Tuesday, March 11, at the Seward County Activity Center Meeting Rooms (1810 Stadium Ave.) in Liberal from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The tour will provide information and peer-to-peer learning for vegetable and meat producers, as well as networking opportunities.
The annual Shriving Service on Pancake Day is an important tradition for the community, and music is a big part of the service.
In order to help with that, Pancake Day coordinators are looking for volunteers to be part of a choir to perform during this year’s Shriving Service. Rehearsals will take place at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, and at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 2, and both rehearsals will be at the First United Methodist Church. The choir will then be performing during the Shriving Service on Pancake Day, which is March 4.
The Seward County Five State Fair Board now has a complete membership.
Tuesday, commissioners approved 13 applications for the fair board, including seven appointed by the commission and six from the fair association, for one, two and three-year terms

The abrupt resignation of Bryan Luetters as the head of the Liberal High School football program left a void in the team’s coaching leadership and recently, that void was officially filled.
USD 480 announced Trevor Powers will be leading the LHS Redskins football team starting this coming season.
Powers, who will be coming from Hooker, Okla., is no stranger to football success, racking up a coaching record of 80-23 over eight seasons, including a 16-7 playoff record. As he tells it, his path to a coaching career was a bit odd.
