SWMC staff highlights hyperbaric chamber therapy

At Southwest Medical Center’s Wound Care Center, patients are provided leading wound diagnostic and treatment methods, including hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), to heal even the most complex wounds.

The team of experts provides specialized care to diagnose and treat complex wounds that resisted healing for months or even years.

These include chronic, non-healing wounds such as burns, pressure sores and severe infections, as well as wounds that have not healed due to complications from diabetes, radiation therapy, trauma or other medical conditions.

Moran and colleagues reintroduce bill to boost broadband supply chain transparency

Federal broadband programs are extremely important and Tuesday Kansas leaders reintroduced legislation to help with just that.

Tuesday, Sen. Jerry Moran, along with John Hickenlooper (D-Colo.), Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.V.) and Gary Peters (D-Mich.) reintroduced their bipartisan Network Equipment Transparency (NET) Act to increase broadband supply chain transparency through the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to make certain federal broadband programs stay on track.

Local youth sign up for Girl Scouts

Even as technology plays a larger and larger role in Americans’ lives, Girl Scouts also stay connected to nature and the great outdoors.

So, while Girl Scouts introduced new badges to promote outdoor activities, girls can also earn STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) badges that prepare them for the future.

Last Thursday night as young ladies were invited to sign up for Girl Scouts in Liberal, they were learning about STEM through a fun activity using simple items such as paper cups and rubber bands.
